For more than 27 years, Jani Mae has been setting new standards of excellence in her industry-photography. For the past 16 years Jani Mae has been specializing in Boudoir semi-nude photography. Though she started her career at 17 as a color lab technician, Jani Mae quickly worked her way up to become an art photographer, which involved travel to 40 states and 5 countries.
When she returned to Nevada in 1981, Jani Mae became an instructor of photography at the Nevada Academy of Art & Technology. At the same time, she opened her own business, Jani Mae Photographers Inc., in Las Vegas Nevada. For one of her first assignments as a photographer/business owner, Jani Mae was hired by 31 different law offices to photograph the well-publicized MGM fire. Shortly thereafter, she photographed the first Sugar Ray Leonard-Thomas Hearn’s fight.
As president and owner of Jani Mae Photographers for more than 27 years now, when started her company as the youngest female professional photographer in Nevada. Throughout her career, Jani Mae has continued to excel at her craft in both in her studio and on location.
Jani Mae is one of the few women in this country who has qualified to photograph underground construction projects, She was selected to photograph the Hoover Dam spillways and the new visitors center, Hai Ku Tunnel project in Hawaii–a landmark in the U.S. Highway System, Glendale Colorado Underground tunnels,
She photographed underground construction projects for several years and has been recognized internationally by such publications as Tunnels and Tunneling, World Tunneling, Engineering News-Record and other world-renown underground construction magazines.
Jani Mae has also worked around the world photographing aerials, commercial building, above-ground construction projects, corporate brochures and architectural designs, A sampling of publications has have spotlighted her work during the past years include: Unique Homes (Cover) and inside story, Builders Architectural (cover and inside story) and National Final Rodeo (nine full-cover pages of each winners. Jani Mae also had the Summa contract (Howard Hughes) for 11 years.
In the past two decades, she has executed more the 600 commercial projects Often, she is the only woman photographer ever to tackles much assignments, in 1992, she was recognized by the Professional Photographers of Nevada with two top awards for her commercial photography.
In addition to her expertise in construction and commercial photography, Jani Mae has been recognized as one of the most accomplished Wedding and Boudoir photographers in Nevada and the West. She has photographed more than, 2,500 weddings during her career, and she photographs countless women each year which she loves the best.
Recognizing her excellence in business, the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce honored her as a Women of Achievement finalist in Entrupreiurship in 1986 and 1987.
Jani Mae has spent more than two thirds of her life making strides in professional photography, hard work ,positive additude, setting goals helps create the longevity of her business she still enjoys today, and giving back to the community are just a few reasons was Jani Mae was recognized by President Clinton as Nevada’a Small Business Person of the Year for the State of Nevada in 1993.
